We amplified voices from Dharavi to the world stage.

The Dharavi Dream Project (TDDP), founded in 2014 by late entrepreneur Samir Bangara and co-founder Dolly Rateshwar, is India’s first and only After School of Hip-Hop, operating from Dharavi—Asia’s largest slum—to discover, nurture, mentor, and showcase emerging under-resourced hip-hop talent through free classes in breakdancing (b-boying/b-girling), beatboxing, rap/MCing, skateboarding, and graffiti art. An initiative supported by music composer AR Rahman, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, Universal Music Group, and Roland (music equipment manufacturer), TDDP serves 150+ students guided by 8 instructors including Chief Mentor MC Heam, renowned rappers Badshah and Raftaar as coaches, with a state-of-the-art TDDP Studios recording facility inaugurated July 15, 2023. The organization required comprehensive brand identity development and dynamic event marketing collateral to communicate social impact mission, promote workshops and performances, drive student enrollments, attract global donor support, and establish credible positioning as India’s premier hip-hop education and youth empowerment movement transforming lives through music, dance, and creative expression in under-resourced communities.

The design philosophy centered on translating raw street energy and social empowerment into accessible, youth-resonant visual language balancing urban authenticity with professional nonprofit credibility. The distinctive logo features layered typography with “The Dharavi Dream Project” stacked above “After School of Hip-Hop” in lime green and purple—representing growth, creativity, and cultural vibrancy—while bilingual Hindi हमारी यात्रा (Our Journey) integration honors cultural roots. Design language employs bold typography with urban street aesthetic, vibrant neon color palettes (electric blue, hot pink, lime green, safety yellow) reflecting hip-hop culture, dynamic photography showcasing student performers in action, and hashtag integration (#AfterSchoolOfHipHop) driving social media engagement. Event collateral features genre-specific visual treatments including theatrical production posters, live performance announcements, workshop enrollment banners, certification materials, and studio promotional graphics—all maintaining consistent brand identity while adapting to diverse audience contexts from donors to students to performance attendees.

⸺ Social Impact & Youth Empowerment Positioning

Conducted comprehensive analysis of India's nonprofit youth empowerment sector, hip-hop education landscape globally, and donor engagement patterns among social impact organizations. Research revealed opportunity to position TDDP as the authentic, talent-driven hip-hop school emphasizing under-resourced youth empowerment, professional mentorship from established artists (Badshah, Raftaar, MC Heam), tangible career pathways through recording studio access, and bilingual cultural authenticity differentiating from superficial CSR initiatives and mainstream arts education

⸺ Brand Identity System Development

Created distinctive visual identity featuring layered typography with "The Dharavi Dream Project" and "After School of Hip-Hop" in contrasting lime green-purple palette representing growth, creativity, and urban energy. Bilingual branding includes Hindi हमारी यात्रा (Our Journey) and हमारे बारे में (About Us) maintaining cultural authenticity. Comprehensive brand guidelines established logo variations for nonprofit correspondence and youth-focused event materials, vibrant color system appropriate for street culture while maintaining donor professionalism, typography featuring bold sans-serif for youth appeal with refined hierarchy for credibility, and photography standards emphasizing authentic student performance moments, mentor interactions, and community celebration.

⸺ Theatrical Production & Performance Marketing

Created dynamic poster designs for theatrical performances including "Dharavi Dreams: A Musical - Hip Hop Theatre Production" (written and directed by Neha Singh, October 6, 2024, 8:00 PM at TDDP After School of Hip-Hop venue) featuring vibrant group choreography photography with rainbow gradient background, collaboration logos (BookAChange, RAHI Theatre, partnered organizations), and event details. Design employs theatrical photography, bold gold typography, turquoise-to-yellow gradient aesthetics, and energetic student poses communicating performance excellence and community celebration.

⸺ Live Event & Tribute Concert Collateral

Designed high-impact event posters for special performances including 50 Cent tribute concert featuring TDDP crew (MC Josh, Aryan BBX, Siva G, Chandan), Mahashivratri Special performance at Isha Yoga Center Coimbatore (March 8, 2024), live streaming graphics for Sadhguru.com platform, and multi-platform distribution materials (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, major TV channels). Materials feature dramatic performer photography with atmospheric dark backgrounds, neon green accent typography, event venue and timing details, livestream integration messaging, and social media handles encouraging digital engagement.

⸺ Social Media & Digital Campaign Graphics

Created extensive social media graphics library including event announcements with bold typography and neon aesthetics, post-event recaps with hashtag integration (#AfterSchoolOfHipHop, #tddpunderground), workshop enrollment campaigns, instructor spotlights, student achievement celebrations, donor acknowledgment materials, breaking jam competition posters, graffiti art showcases, and YouTube content thumbnails. All materials translate cohesive brand identity optimized for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and website deployment driving engagement and community building.

⸺ Results & Impact

The comprehensive brand identity and event marketing system successfully positioned The Dharavi Dream Project as India's premier hip-hop education and youth empowerment movement attracting international recognition, celebrity mentorship partnerships (Badshah, Raftaar, AR Rahman), corporate sponsorships (Roland, Universal Music Group), and significant donor support. Dynamic event collateral and social media graphics drove consistent workshop enrollments, performance attendance, and digital engagement supporting mission expansion from 150+ students in Dharavi to 1500+ students globally during pandemic online classes. Professional branding elevated perceived organizational credibility enabling TDDP Studios recording facility launch, theatrical productions, international performances, and sustainable social impact delivering career pathways for under-resourced hip-hop talent transforming lives through creative expression.
